I mentioned briefly about a month ago that I booked a laser eye consultation. Today, I went to Ultralase in Cambridge to get my eyes checked out. In short, they said my tests and scans showed I was highly suitable for the LASEK Ultra Elite surgery. I had already done my research so I didn’t have too many questions about it but just wanted to know if I was suitable, which apparently I am. Of course it depends on the surgeon’s final decision on the day but so far it all looks good. I put down a £500 deposit and confirmed my treatment date in November. Total treatment cost quoted to me was £3,591 for both eyes. It’s far from the “from £395 per eye” adverts you see scattered around the press (Optimax) but those are usually not the prices you pay after the consultation with the respective clinics. I guess it was the aftercare and information provided from Ultralase that won me over; Optimax and Optical Express being the main two contenders for my business. I hope that I will have clear eyesight next month and look forward to getting rid of my glasses!
