Life in Japan
Asakusa Yabusame
Last Saturday, Sooz and I went to see horseback archery in Asakusa. Here’s a video of one archer hitting the wooden targets Was hard to get some decent photos, especially with the crowd but here’s a few. We sat just in front of the target so I only got rear end shots when they were … Continue reading
Kamakura
I took Sooz, who came to Tokyo for a week, on a day trip to Kamakura. Not far from Tokyo at all but seemed like a good idea as it was also somewhere famous I still hadn’t visited yet. It was a fun day of temple and shrine visiting. A bit like a scaled down … Continue reading
Hanami
Better late than never. The cherry blossom viewing has long gone in Tokyo but here are some of my photos I took. The Japanese make quite a big deal about the week or two when the trees blossom. It is remarkably pretty though.
Rock climbing at Yugawara
This was last week but I needed the time to recover. I went on a beginner’s rock climbing day trip in Yugawara. It was with a friend of a friend who runs an adventure company in his free time. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It started off with a practice climb on a small slope then … Continue reading
Green car seating
Last week I came back from Yugawara to Tokyo in the Green car, or otherwise, first class seating on the JR trains. Nothing special to report itself but what fascinated me was the little panel above my seat. When I sat down, my friend told me to touch the top. I looked around and saw … Continue reading
Hakone
It was a public holiday last Friday so had a 3 day weekend. I drove down to Hakone for some sightseeing and relaxing in a top ryokan (季の湯 雪月花). A lot of the time was spent in our rented Nissan Cube (I won’t post a photo because it’s a typical Japanese car that is shaped … Continue reading
I need a car…
I’ve been thinking of what car to buy after I return home. This looks tempting.
Spring has finally arrived
It may still be cold at nights but I know that spring has arrived after spotting 3 Ferraris today around my apartment. Those middle aged, Japanese men with too much money always know when to let them out of their stables.
Planning
I haven’t been blogging recently but I’ve been quite occupied every day and every night. Some things just not blog-worthy and some things not blog-gable. I can sense my time in Japan is coming to an end. Part my time has been spent trying to plan out some trips in the vacation time that I’m … Continue reading
Snow in Tokyo
I finally witnessed some snowfall in Tokyo this evening as I walked back from work. Apparantly there was some last week but I was too busy to check it out. Can’t wait for things to warm up though as it’s freezing in my room!
