Life in Japan
366 days
It’s been 366 days since I arrived in Japan. I landed on the 29th February 2008 so there’s no actual anniversary for me to celebrate this year. Time sure does fly by…
Ikebukuro
It’s nice to get a different perspective on this big city. Here’s a view of Tokyo from Sunshine City, Ikebukuro: It also amazes me to see the underwater world, how diverse life is on this little planet. Thanks to my friends for a fun Sunday!
Shimokita
Went to this nice area outside the reaches of the Tokyo metro yesterday, a place called Shimokita. Lots of small streets and izakayas and bars. I wish where I live now would be a bit more exciting. A nice night out nonetheless. Forgot to take my camera but managed to get a snap of the … Continue reading
Skiing
I went for my first ever ski trip last Sunday. It was a day trip by bullet train to Gala Yuzawa, a slightly crowded resort in Nigiita prefecture, probably due to it having it’s own shinkansen station making for easy access. The train and ski pass was ¥13,000 and full equipment was about ¥4000, so … Continue reading
Japanese Language Proficiency Test – PASSED!!
I’ve finally got the test results and I passed!!! I’m so happy, especially since after the exam I thought I’d messed it up as it was harder than I was expecting it to be but I got 90%! Huge thanks to all my Japanese teachers and friends who have helped me along the way as … Continue reading
Happy Valentine’s Day

Yesterday, I … Continue reading
Chicken
Wow, it’s been over two weeks since I last blogged. I’ve just been busy at work and with other commitments I currently have. I’ve felt very tired all week though, mostly due to not sleeping well. Hope it passes over and I get my energy back. It is the winter after all so must hibernate. … Continue reading
What happened?
Normally, I hear ambulance sirens now and then when I’m in my apartment but just now I heard far too many. As I walked to my front door I could also hear a loud engine sound. I looked through my spy-hole and saw lots of flashing lights! Then, stepped out and saw the place was … Continue reading
Everybody loves pie
These surprisingly tasty snacks were shoved into my bag when I left the Chuo-ward, Japanese class party on Wednesday. I don’t normally snack much but since I had them on my desk I unwrapped it and put it in my mouth – instant delight. The pies come in a cute, Japanese heart shape too.
Teach English as a foreign language
Lookie, I completed the main part of the TEFL course. Now I’m qualified to teach English as a foreign language. Still 40 more hours to go to complete the additional modules that make up my 100 hour course with i-to-i but I’m working on it slowly whenever I get a few hours spare.
